Man, the holidays slipped up on us this year

As you get older, time sure moves faster.

We're incredibly late this year, but the vintage aluminum tree (with useless thwacka thwacka thwacka sounding color wheel) has finally made its annual appearance in our lobby.

Wishing all my COW friends the very best this holiday season, and hope you all have a great new near!

[Todd Terry] " vintage aluminum tree"

I know that vintage aluminum tree is actually a perfectly reasonable phrase...

but somehow my brain keeps screaming "oxymoron alert" at me.

Perhaps I can quiet those voices with the whispered incantation: "happy holidays everyone!"

"Before speaking out ask yourself whether your words are true, whether they are respectful and whether they are needed in our civil discussions."-Justice O'Connor

Haha... how is that, Bill? It's vintage (about 40+ years old). It's aluminum. And it's a tree. Sort of.

Getting ready for the holidays have been a firefight here, too much work going on and the year's end really slipped up. We just today sent our company Christmas cards to the printer. Yikes.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and best New Year wishes to all!

Happy Hanukkah (aka, Cha-noo-ka / Chanukka / חֲנֻכָּה )

Yeah, the "Happy Holidays" meme is all too common in the business world.

Here's wishing everyone a próspero año y felicidad.

May there be no Grinches in your neighborhood.

Heard this one on the radio this morning driving to work:

Finally, here's some of my mom's potato latkes:

Cheers

"Happy holidays" may be all too common, but good homemade latkes aren't common enough!

Well Mike... I might be a good Gentile boy, but latkes are my absolute favorite holiday food.
I can eat pounds of them.

Mazel tov!

Those look good! Are they basically just little potato pancakes?

Potato latkes ARE potato pancakes. The significance is that they are cooked in oil, representing the oil which lasted for 8 nights back in old timey Jerusalem - the miracle of Hanukkah. Judaism is all about symbolism.

Back to Christmas for a minute - now I have a multi-denominational household so we have a Christmas tree and a menorah living side by side in harmony.

Hey, I made some potato latkes yesterday without even knowing it!

Harmony; that's what it's all about.

I think the elves must have set this up last night - I didn't notice it yesterday:

These are the same elves who used to sabotage my 1" machines at night - glad they have changed their ways!

I find that the elves are generally pretty good. It's the gremlins you have to watch out for!
