Telling a client like it is.

You're awesome.
I really appreciate your business.
You're the best client I've ever had.
I wish all my clients were like you.
I have the best time working on your projects.
My crew just loves you as a client.
You rock.
Calling to let you know I got your check & I appreciate you speedy payment.
Thanks for giving us the creative freedom on your gig.

Call them and tell them.

While spending time trying to figure out how to get more business, don't forget to keep your existing clients happy. Talk to them & let them know you appreciate them. Ask them for a quality referral. Have them mention you in their newsletters and blogs. Invite them to lunch & don't talk shop. Find out if they have other departments you can serve or do you have services they are not aware of.

We're having a rather stellar year and this is what I attribute it to. We all got the same dang tools, it's the service that matters most.

Steve

Except for "I appreciate your business" I do not tell every client these and definitely not with the same gusto. Further, if I don't have that kind of enthusiasm for a client they go on my watch list if I want to continue to work with them. My fellow COWs here taught me years ago to ditch the "grinders" and focus on the top 20% - I listened.

Amen!

Production is fun - but lets not forget: Nobody ever died on the video table!

I disagree, the tools may be the same but at the end of the day some of us work harder, shoot higher and produce better results. I aim high, and if my work isnt constantly getting better then id rather switch occupations. Hacks use the same tools as other hacks, pros create something with the same tools that hacks never could. At the top we all us the same tools, at the bottom tools are what sperate hack from experienced hack. Grow fast or get out of this business. Theres no room for imperfectionist losers.
