Remove noise from entire clip no longer works

Let's see, zero replies to most of the posts here. Not too promising, but I hate posting in the wrong forum so I'll give it a shot.
At one time, with Audition 2015, I could open a clip, highlight a noise area, memorize the noise pattern, and then I could remove it from the entire clip. Now, (and the same is true with Audition 2015.3) it only removes the noise from the highlighted area. I've tried all of the methods for removing noise. They all do the same thing. Only remove noise from the section of a clip that's highlighted, even if I click "apply to entire clip".
What am I doing wrong? The youtube video where I initially learned how to remove noise is still there so I'm still following the same procedure that used to work fine before.
