How to improve or provide natural silent in an interview?
on Feb 28, 2016 at 6:45:07 pm

Hello All,

I am interviewing low income people about their difficult situations. I take the interviews and cut them into a narrative format, where they are the only voice heard (no interviewer). The way the cutting works out, sometimes I need some more time between the next comment from the interviewee.

In order to accomplish this, I've been cutting in other silences from the conversation, but sometimes just a little breath can create a strange audio effect when repeated 2 or 3 times.

Can you help me, or point me to a tutorial that will help? Thank you..

David

you can use effect-auto-heal from spectral frequency to smooth transition stuff out highlighting with the marque tool.

also, there's actually a noise removing preset called sound remover "Ahhh, ummmm"

Here's a really good link. I recommend watching them all, you'll save yourself a LOT of headache from guessing.

Record room tone at the time of the interview. A minute or 30" of silence in each interview set-up.
