MacoheadAudition 2.0 not recognizing DivX Audio?
by on Oct 19, 2006 at 6:20:42 pm

Hello,

I am trying to bring files ripped from DVD and compressed into a DivX AVI compression, but when I import them into Audition it says there is no audio, but when I play them using Windows Media Player there is audio....

Any Ideas?

Thanks!

It may be the file type, can you save as an AVI file and not a DivX file ... Just guessing but that is the only thing that makes sence to me right now .......... WILLIE

Thanks for your response...

I can't change the file type becuase I have 800+ files, and they are limited to what size they can be... They are currently AVI's, but are compressed with DivX... I can bring other DivX compressed files in with success, just none of the ones I need to!

When I try to bring the file into After Effects it gives me the warning "No Such Avi Compressor" ... but I can watch and listen to the file perfectly using Windows Media Player...

If After Effects can't deal with it I am pretty sure it's your file extension that is your problem since it handles the same file extensions as Audition ........... WILLIE

I'm not sure as to how the extension would be causing problems, it is an AVI...

If after effects won't take it then audition won't so I would think that it's not a true AVI ... Do you have Pre Pro? If so try importing it into Pre Pro ... If you have the same problem then that pretty well is the answer ... Wish I had some resolution for you but I don't at this point ........... WILLIE

No, I don't have pre-pro, I've never heard of it... I'll take a look around to see if I can find it and give it a try...

Thanks again...

Hey..

Guess I should figured "Pre-Pro" was "Premiere"... not up on the lingo!

I just tried bringing into Pre-Pro, and it never leaves the "Importing Files" screen...so I guess therein lies the problem, it doesn't seem to be a true avi file....

These files were ripped from DVD using AOA DVD ripper, and ripped into a DivX compression....

Would you have any idea as to how I can convert these to true avi so I can bring them into Audition and normalize all of the audio?

Thanks for all of your time and help, you're very handy!:)

Cheers,
Mike

Try to right click on a file and go to RENAME and change the file extension to .avi, it's a shot in the dark but it may work .......... WILLIE
