How to do something like that
on Oct 3, 2006 at 8:14:30 pm

How did they position the text ("welcome" on left and "bienvenu" on right and also the logo in betwen them) above the blured picture in the example below?

http://www.fido.ca/portal/Entree.jsp

I have tried to achieve this in DW with table cells but its a real nightmare. Someone has a technic to suggest?

Thank you

hello...

it's an animated gif with an image map:

if you were to do something in html like this, you could make a table cell with the animation as the gif bg and then center a logo over it...

hello...

for an image map, just google the phrase "image map" or "usemap" - you'll get all the tutorials you'll need on that. an animated gif (gif89a) is made with software - adobe image ready is the big one, but just google up animated gif software or the likes and you'll find a lot of tools if you don't have image ready (whch comes with photoshop)...

a gif89a is just a gif with frames in it to do different cells of animation...

i suggest taking a look into css and div-layers instead of tables. div layers are layers in html that can hold any kind of content and are designed by using css. this way you can place the layer exactly where you want it to appear in the browser window, without having to create complicated table structures...
