A Curious Q!
on Feb 9, 2006 at 6:09:12 pm

Hi all,

I got these Q's rolling in my mind since long time and thought i could get good solution from there

The most important Q here is how 1 should get good PR in quick time, what are the necessary things one needs to do with his website to get this done. I am looking to host 3 websites soon, so would like to have all the relevant information.

Does PR and SEO is the same? Do I need to do out of the box coding, how imp is google ad sense etc. links backs etc.

This may be outa-box- here do u think that Links Business will Grow on internet, if somebody has planning to start ?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers.

I know there's a language barrier here, but I'm trying to figure out what PR in QuickTime is. As well as SEO. Do you mean QuickTime as in video playback, or do you mean quick time (as you wrote) as in get it done quickly. Both seem equally pertinent to a question about web design.

If you're asking how to get your web site noticed in Google, you have to design for it. Google and other search engines can only read and follow text and text links. So if a site is flash or graphic based, it still needs text on the home page as well as good old fashioned text links across the bottom for a search engine to follow and index. How high it comes up in searches depends on the correlation between the title of the page (very often overlooked, but VERY important to google) and the text within the page. If the page is called Web Design for Beginners, and the text within the page never mentions web design or beginners then it probably wouldn't come up in a search for web design for beginners. However, if the main text mentions it a couple times, and then there are links to other pages such as "beginner design" and "web design basics" or "beginners start here" etc. then those pages will be added and considered wtihin a search for web design for beginners. The whole relevance of the site will somehow be taken into account by google's proprietary algorithms. The goal of google is to provide honest relevant links to credible sites. The take great measures to not include sites that use methods to trick searches. For example, repeating words on a page over and over. Or adding text that is the same color as the background. Or a page with no links to any other page. These kinds of trickery would probably get a site disqualified.

So PR is page rank, not press, promotion or press release? What is SEO and Links Business? I guess I don't know how important google is to SEO and Links business since I don't knwo what that is. I guess it's as important as you or your client thinks it is.

Hi mills_mg,

PR is not necessary to have a good ranking in Google. There are many instance of a page with PR of 1 or 2 ranking better than a page with PR 5 or 6.

The best thing for you to do is build a site that is worthy of links, getting people to want to link to your web pages. Make sure you are using the best key word phrases and make sure your pages use these properly. And, make sure that your site can be crawled adequately by the se spidders.

Google PageRank shouldn't concern you. When people tell you that it is important, don't listen to them. Run..Run..Run

Hi Chip,

Thanks. I am quite new to all this so wanted to get as much info as i can before entering in this vast Web market, which is growing like anything day-by-day.

Is there any spec. way to know / check when spidering are crawling, i mean the day, time etc. Is there any info regarding that available like when they crawls the sites?

Also what does it meant by Backlinks, Inbound links etc, and how does they affect the performance as for SE. I did tried searching for them but didnt got any good info.

Also do u think the Link biz on internet will grow, coz i heard that people are paying to get links from GOOD PR Pages.!

Thanks in advance.

---Cheers

You can't tell in advance but you can see when your pages were last crawled. It google type in

site:http://www.yoursite.com/

The pages that Google has crawled will show. If there is a link nest to a listed page that says cache you can click on this and see the page as it currently is in Google's index. at the top of the page you can see when they last looked at your page. If you look at your pages once a week or so you can begin to see how often they are crawling the pages and kind of predict when the are going to next..

Backlinks and inbound links are the same thing. If I link to your site from my site then you have a backlink from my site. We also call them external links..

As far as the link biz on the internet, Whitehat seo specialists all feel that Google PageRank (PR) isn't what gets you to the top of the search engines. paying for links based on PR is a waste of money. Build a site that people want to link to. It sounds like hard work and it is. But in the long run it is a lot less work then constantly trying to stay ahead in the "links game."

I would rather a site with a PR of 3, that has something in common with my site, rather than a site with PR 8 that has nothing in common with my site.
