Neither of the 2 you mentioned require any knowledge of html for most normal basic stuff. If you're looking cheaper you could get microsoft frontpage. It doesn't know much about html either. :)

Or, here's a thought. You CAN actually use Macromedia Contribute as a stand alone app. It's very similar to working with frontpage in that aspect. You'd actually build your site on the server, and edit it directly on the server. Then later you could edit those sites (and upgrade them to something better) with Dreamweaver.

Both are a completely free, completely functional 30 day trial download. Give them a shot.

thanks for the input, when you refered to "the most normal basic stuff" not requiring a knowledge of html, what part of a webpage would you need to apply html to? I don't think i want to have alot of animation or crazy sh*t just a place for to advertise myself and show some of the work that I have been doing.
I have been teaching myself html and so far so good, but its good to know that i can actually get a good page up and going sooner than later.

again thanks

Normal basic stuff is text, pictures, and links arranged in a table. Any product will do that for you. No need to learn html if you don't want to. But iti certainly helps to understand it so you can attempt to tweak or debug if your wysiwyg editor doesn't create exactly what you were thinking, or if it looks different in different browsers, etc.
