Match Move in the middle of the track

Hi

I want to apply BCC Match Move in my project on extruded text. But the event is on 3 minutes when I turn on track on the fly it says Move the timeline cursor to a previously tracked frame and click the Clear Render Cache button. Resume tracking from that point. When I am at the first frame of that track the track on the fly appears but this event (where I am tracking) starts at 3:09. How can I track this??

Michiel

I assume from your other posts that you are using Vegas Pro. (It is important to always state this in the BorisFX forum because BCC works in a lot of hosts)

You need to think more like a motion graphics editor and less like a video editor. Video editors want everything to work in one project on a single timeline. Motion graphics editors like to precompose and layer their projects.

Here is what you need to do:

Take the area that you want to Match Move and start a new Vegas Pro project. Just place the assets needed to do the Match Move in the project. This way you are working from the beginning of the timeline. If you were using a motion graphics program like After Effects this would be called a "comp" or a pre-composition. Working in a separate composition like this keeps your main timeline clean. Once you have the Match Move working like you want, save this project and drop the .veg file into your main project and move it to anywhere on the timeline that you need it. It will behave just like any other piece of media. If you ever need to modify it, just right-click and select "Edit in Vegas Pro" and a new instance of Vegas Pro will open up allowing you to make adjustments. When these adjustments are done, just save and close that instance of Vegas Pro and your original project will be updated with the changes.

In Vegas Pro this is referred to as a Nested Project but it's just like pre-compositions in other motion graphics programs. Some NLE's call these nested Sequences but it's all the same concept. There are a lot of reasons to use Nested Projects in Vegas Pro and this is one of those times where working in a separate project makes things a lot easier to handle.
