Two Problems with BCC deinterlace / RED deinterlace in Sony Vegas 11.0
on May 24, 2012 at 3:24:20 pm

I face the two following problems:

- When I apply BCC deinterlace in Sony Vegas 11.0, the output looks very strange. It seems to show one field normal and the other field upside-down! (Screen shot: http://f1.creativecow.net/4197/bcc-deinterlace-problem) Changing the settings of BCC deinterlace doens't affect this behaviour. Any idea what could I be doing wrong?
I'm using:
- Sony Vegas 11.0 Build 595 (64 bit)
- BCC 8.0.1 (64 bit)
- 720 * 576 PAL footage, upper field first, Sony IMX 50 encoded

- When I apply Boris RED 5 as a filter in Vegas and use the deinterlace filter in RED, it works very well! However, if I apply RED as a track filter in Vegas, the deinterlace filter seems not to handle well the alpha channel. When I do a fade-in on my video event in Vegas, the deinterlace filter produces a very strange output during the fading!
I'm using:
- Sony Vegas 11.0 Build 595 (64 bit)
- Boris RED 5.14 (64 bit)
- 720 * 576 PAL footage, upper field first, Sony IMX 50 encoded

Thanks a lot for your help!
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

We're going to attempt to reproduce the issues that you reported here in our labs. I'll let you know how that goes as soon as I hear back from our QA group.

Thanks,

Peter.

Peter,

did you hear anything about these issues? Were you able to reproduce them? Is there a bugfix release for BCC scheduled?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

The issue is currently being investigated by engineering ... we don't have a fix for it just yet but as soon as we do it will be posted as a free update on our web site.

Thanks,

Peter.
