There seems to be no information what-so-ever regarding this issue, although I found two posts from users experiencing crashes with the application and receiving the identical error and "ats: invalid fontobjectid."

Also, when using Avid FX within Media Composer, often the values for many of the parameters do not update; this behavior is inconsistent and seemingly arbitrary. I assume my graphics cards are the culprit, but I have identical crash behavior with the pen tool using vastly different cards. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi,

Is this something that has just recently started to happen? If so, then what is different about the system ... new font perhaps? Is it only with projects of a certain size? I'd suggest you get in touch with one of our support gurus who might be able to offer you some assistance in sleuthing the error.

You can reach them via email at support@borisfx.com

Cheers,

Peter.

Peter, thanks for the response; sorry I haven't checked back to this post in a few days. Marianna over at the Avid forums put me in touch with their tech support; no solution at the moment (apparently my issue is a real anomaly), but they're looking into it. When I hear something, I'll post back here. Thanks.

Hi,
I am extremely excited about becoming a new Avid Media Composer user. Unfortunately, I am experiencing a problem with Avid FX crashing. Whether files are transferred from MC or FX is used as a stand alone, the least usage of the FX program courses it to close and indicate an "unexpected quite". I was wondering if anyone else experienced the same and found a solution to the problem.
I am working on an IMac 27" with 8GB of ram. I haven't experienced this with any other software. I contacted Boris, Apple and Avid and still do not have the answer.
Oh, also, I did upgrade to 5.5.3 as directed by Avid for use with the Imac and the problem still exist.

I honestly think it has to do with the graphics. I know that Avid Fx is a part of Boris or should I should say a Boris codec. They only admire nvidia drivers. I have an early 2009 mac pro. My nvidia gt120 card installed runs avid fx stable, however if I put in my ATI 8750 thats a recommended card from Apple, it crashes all the time.
