circle of light, with glint...

BCC 7, vegas pro 10..
Ok, maybe pushing things a bit here...
I have a logo with some text rotating about it in 3d, so far so good.
I would like to add a thin circle of light 'around' the image, with a glint that travels the circumference of the circle. The 'around the image' bit I get - it is really how to make the circle with the travelling glint.
I have been looking at effects such as the comet, or maybe an extruded spline, and try and shape it appropriately but it just looks really 'wrong'...
Any suggestions as you how this might be achieved?

So it seems to me as though you have everything firured out except for the glint ... and from what I know, I can't think of an easy way to achieve this effect without using an application such as Boris RED, which has systems in place that we designed to handle exactly this type of scenario.
With Boris RED, you can animate a shape (such as a glint or a paint blot) along a user defined path, which is exactly what you are trying to achieve.
