Hi,

You should probably make sure that the file is 512 x 512 k maximum and that the permissions are set correctly.

Hope this helps.

Peter.

And you're using the (free) Nvidia Photoshop plug-in to create them, right?

Thanks,

Peter.

There is also a free app from ATI that enables you to generate the DDS reflection map files.

You might want to make sure that you are using the compression option in the Nvidia plug-in.

If you would like to send me the file that was crashing your system we'll take a look at it to see if we can understand the cause of the crash. My email address is peterm@borisfx.com.

Cheers,

Peter.

Hey Peter!
I have another question remain! When I attach a Null to a Extrude Spline for example, I Noticed the 3D engine in the plugin and in After effect are not exactly the same. What I mean is when I moving the Null, It seems to not stay at the center of the Spline. And for the Z axis it worst. it why I corrected the expression for the Z axis and I divised by 100. But i wanna know if you have maybe a little trick or something!
Thank you again!!!!

Hi Nikola,

Are you following these steps:

• create solid
• apply BCC 3d object filter
• create null - set null to 3D
• set BCC 3d object filter camera mode to orbit
• add expression to tumble, spin, rotate parameters in 3d object filter
• pickwhip tumble to X rot, spin to Y rot, rotate to Z rot

Cheers,

Peter.

Thank you Peter! but what about the position? To link position to the null?
Cheers!
Nik

Have you tried using an AE camera and pickwhipping that to the Null? The BCC 3D Objects filters can use AE cameras or the filter camera.

Cheers,

Peter.

Yes Peter i've already tried!!!!
The issue actually is (and you can try if you want):
-Create a solid;
-Apply the 3d object filter;
-Create a null;
-Link the these transformation properties from the filter to the null;
-The XY position
-The Z position
-The X Rotation
-The Y Rotation
-The Z Rotation
-Create a Camera;
-On the filter use the comp Cam
-Move the Null object and you'll see that the they don't have the same physique position... and especally on the Z axis the Spline will be way futher in space than the Null....
I let you test that and if you have any kind of solution let me know!!
Thank you very much Peter for your times!!!!

hi!

I have the same problem. i`m using a mac. so the nvidia photoshop plugin isn`t an option for me. i tried to convert jpgs with "graphicConverter X" (7.0.1) into DDS file format. but unfortunately the textextruder can`t handle that dds-file i had generated/converted. has someone a idea how i could generate dds reflection maps on a mac?

thank you for response

I'd also like to know if anyone has a way to do this successfully on the Mac. Thus far, I only have knowledge of users successfully generating DDS files on Windows systems.

If you have boot camp on your Mac you might be able to run Windows Photoshop and use the nvidia dds generator plug-in - have you considered trying that?

Cheers,

Peter.

thats the last posibillity. i tried several tools for mac. graphicconverter 7, squishDDS, gimp and ContentaConverterPREMIUM. no success. if i can`t find a working tool for osX i have to do it with bootcamp, and so on. because a custom reflection map is just essential to me.

the way through windows/photoshop&nvidiaplugin makes the workflow complicated. and makes it hard going..
