Boris RED and Flash export
by Kieran Matthew on Aug 4, 2008 at 12:45:09 pm
I've been trying to export an animation as Flash with little success. The animation is made up of vector text and a couple of EPS drawings over a PNG backdrop. It lasts a little over 2mins 30.
Boris RED 4.3 and 4.2 crash immediately with a division by zero error. RED 3 exports, but slows down progressively as the frame number advances. I left it running overnight but found that it had crashed somewhere along the way. It is running now, at frame 1341 and taking 14 seconds per frame.
So, is this a hopeless quest? Is the flash export only really useful for short text animations? It's great that it has this function at all, so I'm not complaining, just wonder if people are using RED to make flash like this and if there are any tips or work-arounds?

Would it be possible for you to please send me a project file and I'll see if I can reproduce the issue that you are seeing on your system. If I can reproduce it here then I can bring this to engineering who may be able to fix this.
