Export in RED with Alpha Channel intact?

I seem to be having some problems exporting files from RED. I've made some simple animated lower-third graphics, but I can't seem to get the files to export with their alpha channels intact. I'm getting a black background in all of my files, regardless of compression settings (I tried exporting to uncompressed AVI just to be sure). How can I get Boris to export with the alpha channel? I even made something up with just one media track, and yet Boris is still giving me that black background.

You need to choose a codec that can contain an alpha channel.
If you're exporting AVI files, I'm assuming that you're on a Windows machine. In that case, choose AVI - Directshow > Uncompressed 32-bit. That's 8-bits per colour channel, plus an 8-bit alpha.
If you can use Quicktime movies in your editing system, then go for something like the Animation codec. Make sure you set the colour depth to Millions of Colours+. So that's millions of colours plus an alpha channel.
Good luck with your project.
