Decklink Extreme HD driver conflict
on Dec 22, 2010 at 3:44:55 am

We have an older Decklink Extreme HD card in an HP xw6200 PC with quad-core processor, 4GB RAM, ATI Radeon 4600 graphics with 1GB memory, and plenty of hard-drive storage. It runs decently with Premiere CS3 and Vegas 8 (using Beta plug-ins).

However we're testing a NLE editing app called IVSedits, which is basically the old Harris VelocityHD software that has been rewritten by an Italian company to work with Blackmagic, AJA and Bluefish hardware. We have 3 older VelocityQ systems that we use daily and terabytes of Velocity based video files (dps and dva file extension).

The problem we're having is the IVSedits software won't open with it's Blackmagic .dll files enabled. It opens and works fine if we remove their blackmagic .dll's, so we know it has to be a conflict with the .dll file taking control of the Blackmagic hardware....and I can only assume Premiere or Vegas' .dll or plug-ins are causing this.

We've tried older Blackmagic drivers and currently have the latest 7.9.3 drivers installed.

Anybody have any suggestions for what files to disable, rename or move in Premiere CS3 and Vegas' folders to see if it's truly a software conflict issue? Are there any codecs that could cause this??

The software authors have Premire, Vegas and Edius all installed and running along with their software on multiple systems, so we know it can work alongside that software. Another suggestion has been to swap PCI-E slots between the graphics card and the Decklink card, which we haven't had a chance to try since there are deadline oriented projects being worked on in that system.
