Feedback and Comments - Vimeo
on Aug 20, 2018 at 3:01:48 pm

Good Day,

Has anyone had any luck using Vimeo's time-coded commenting notes as a feedback tool? Or are there any other tools that people can comment directly on the video? Of course this is dependent on how tech-savvy the commenters would be (In my case, not at all). I could see this as being helpful but also being very destructive as I upload many versions.

Thank you,

My customers (and I) prefer screenlight.tv for this function.

Thank you Steve!

I don't believe there will be any platform that will be like this but I will ask anyways. Would the "clients" or "commentors" need to create a profile to use the time-coded commenting tool?

I really enjoy that this looks similar to a box set-up where you can upload and what looks like create a variety of folders.

Thanks again!

No login or account required. They do have to add a name simply so you can see who's commenting. You can share a link to an individual piece or a folder or subfolder of items. Works with video, audio and images. Links you create have different permissions. I love that all the comments can be downloaded and imported to premier and appear as markers on your sequence. This is all a huge timesaver for clients and editors.

I'm partial to Screenlight, but there are others like wipster.io & frame.io that do the same and more.

Am I the only guy creeped out by Vimeo's current pop-up ads on YouTube? The music and abstract imagery just turn me off for some reason.

Been using frame.io for the last 6 months and it’s been fantastic. Timecode comments from any invited client, you can see who has watched and when, it integrates directly into fcpx and premiere and after effects do you can export and upload with a click and even better than that, the upload speeds are better than anything we’ve used and it can take prores files for full quality project signoff. You can also upload all rushes as separate files and have multiple users on your account so that a film crew could be shooting and uploading on one side of the world while an editing team is working on the files and offering a first cut to the client to comment on in real-time. As a final bonus, you can even download the comments as either a text file or as an fcpx event which can be dragged into your project and allow you to see the comments as titles.

We’ve encountered issues with Vimeo and YouTube getting through web security and firewalls from large firms but frame.io has been brilliant fantastic.
