I need to export footage to 720x576 to play video on a digital picture frame. When I convert my original 1080 footage to 720x576 it gets squashed, and everything looks tall and skinny. I use fcpx and mpeg steam clip. Any help on adding the black bars or ideas on how to retain the correct looking aspect while still having a final product at 720x576 so it will play on the picture frame.

1080 HD video has an aspect ratio of 1.78 ( width = 1.78 times the height ), so unless you crop into your image, the correct display size that maintains the 1.78 aspect ratio would be 720x405 pixels.

So you will have to frame your image with black-bars or crop into it.
