Hey Everyone,

I'm looking for a portable digital video recorder. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would like it to have video and audio monitoring. The job I need it for will only be a SD 480 feed. I really don't want a laptop involved just something small and portable. I'm not sure if my input will be composite or component but probably composite.

I hate to buy something that is outdated but if it's cheap it wouldn't matter. I thought about getting a Matrox MX02 LE and plugging a ATOMAS Ninja into it via HDMI. Does anyone know if this would work? I can see use for these pieces of gear down the road and maybe worth the investment.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Any off the shelf used DV camcorder with video input would do this for practically free. Or does it need to be solid-state? ATOMOS is also nice but overkill for SD capture. Bunch of choices over here too-
