Playing device for looping Tradeshow video- 70"monitor

Hello and thanks in advance.

We have a big tradeshow exhibit coming up and we are upping the ante in terms of our video presence. We have previously had two 52" monitors, but this year we are adding an additional 70" monitor.
My question is specifically about the playing device.

We have been using hard drive media players from Iomega, which have worked OK so far, but I have been unimpressed by the video quality and reliability of the players. We own two of the Iomega Screenplay Plus, but they have limited file compatibility and I have been disappointed with the quality of the Mpeg2 files (those are the highest quality file I can get to play on the thing). We have also had trouble with these overheating. We also own a Iomega ScreenPlay Director HD that will play higher quality MPEG4 or H.264 files but we have had problems with the videos freezing every 20-30 minutes.

I have been researching other devices which range from this kind of thing on the low end http://uebo.net/products/m50 which you plug a usb drive into. But I am unsure how reliable this would be high quality large files. To even a Apple TV (first generation) on the high end, which would at least give us high quality and relaiblity.

I was wondering what others have used for this purpose.

The device needs to be simple, plug in an HDMI and play the file. Our sales guys are not good about plugging in their laptop and getting the matching resolution to the HD monitor. We also want to find the right mix of video quality, reliability, and price. Thanks for your help on this.

John

If you have an iPod touch, you can just get the HDMI adapter and play out to the screen. In order to loop playback, you need to create a playlist in iTunes and add the video to it.

The iPod is an excellent solution. Also, if your monitor has a usb port you can put the file on a thumb drive and set the monitor menu to loop. That also works for slide shows with stills or powerpoints.

Can an iPod loop the video? I am finding out that a simple looping function is lacking on the iPad and iPad2. There is a workaround to make videos loop on the iPad but it is not a simple process.

You should take a look at Brightsign's players. I had 8 of them in use on a show last year. They ran all day and all night for 20 days without a hitch.

Thanks.
Although, iPod only outputs 720p. I normally don't worry too much about the difference between 720 and 1080 on our monitors, but when we are going all the way up to 70" I think I want 1080p.

We are about issue iPad 2 to most of our sales staff. That may be a better option since iPad 2 will output 1080p.
