Look to get a HD cammers
on Jun 11, 2011 at 8:16:44 pm

Hi,
I still shoot with a PD170 and a VX2000. I was look at Sony HXR-NX5U and my friend likes Canon XF105
HD. We will need SDI-HD out for the events where the camera is shown on a big screen. I would like to know Witch one would be better for weddings and what others wedding videographers are using.

Thank You
Paul

I love my Panasonic AG-HVX170. They are discontinued but you should be able to get one...for a good price ~$3500??) I'm sure. If so, also read about migrating to a tapeless workflow, how P2 works, etc.

Hi,
Thank you for your input. The company I shoot for is going all HD for there wedding packages for next year. So I do not need one tomorrow. They are getting new projectors with SDI-HD out this year for the I-Mag jobs and I would like to stay will Sony. That's why I am look at the Sony HXR-NX5U. The AG-HVX170 looks good to. I have some time think about it.

Thank You
Paul

Many wedding videographer's have been using the DSLR's. Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 7d, and Canon 60D. The reason? It gives you that shallow depth of field when using the many choices of lenses.

If I were to buy another camera today I'd go with either the Sony NEX FS 100U

or the Panasonic AF 100
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/731509-REG/Panasonic_AG_AF100_AG_AF10...

Both allow you to use a variety of lenses to get that shallow depth of field and has a film sized super sensor that is much better than the DSLR's. Plus it gives you all the controls you need in a video camera, audio, etc.

Hi,
I heard that DSLR are being used but just don't know how it is done. My friend has a Canon 5D Mark II and he told me when shooting video it stops recording after 12 mins. So how would the ceremony be covered?
They send me alone and I set up a backup camera with a wide shot and shoot with the other camera for the ceremony. I shoot one camera for the rest of the day.
