I'm trying to sort out a problem with doing a video piece for a conference that will be shown on 3 50 inch plasma screens stacked vertically
showing the video piece in three sections making it a vertical proportion. What is the best approach to doing this? Should I do standard 16:9 ratio or standard 4:3? I assume hardware would solve the stacking problem but not sure. any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Hi There,

i have had quite a bit of experience with filming, editing and motion graphics for output on various video wall / plasma display configurations.

one job for example was for three plasmas verticaly mounted,
i had to film various sequences and create motion graphics to run across all three screens.

for filming i made a rig which held three Cannon XL2's on their side and angled them correctly to capture a collective image of 1728 x 1024. i.e. three wide screens on their side,

i then recreated the plasma configuration in after effects and worked the whole peice as one composition.

then made three DVD's for playback in sync-able dvd players.

recently i was doing a peice for a horizontal run of 22 x 48" plasmas,

i recreated the screen config in aftereffects and worked on all 22 screens!

its a heafty feat of aftereffectism, but well worth it! the plasmas were controlled by some bespoke multimedia video show software that served the seperated composition of 22 videos to 22 mini macs!

very nice!

hope this is of some use

best regards

steve

[steve] "made three DVD's for playback in sync-able dvd players."

If I might hijack to ask...

WHAT "sync-able" DVD players did you find?

And how do they "sync"?

I'd like to know about syncing multiple DVD players, too.
