Dave LozinskiImage Embedding Upload no longer working
by on Dec 19, 2010 at 3:37:42 am

I've been trying to do a post with images embedded. When I click on the "Image Upload" icon, the separate pop-up window comes up.

Where the problem lies is I'll select an jpeg image on my computer to upload; then I click the upload button.

It'll complete with "Image Uploaded!" but the images don't appear. The right hand side is just blank; and there's nothing on the left except "Embed" and "Link".

This *used* to work as I did a post recently with jpg images embedded.

Here's a screen capture I've uploaded to show you guys via the "File Upload" icon:

Please help!

PS: looking back at a previous post of mine:
what it has done is replaced the images in that post with the new ones I was trying to upload even though I was creating a brand new post! So now it's overwritten the images in a previous post (which I can no longer get back) with new images I was trying to embed into a new post. Hope this helps with trying to resolve this issue.

Hello Dave,

The image uploader works, there was just a quirk that you were experiencing. If you had an image with the same name that you had removed it wasn't showing the image. This should be fixed now.

When you remove an image it doesn't delete the image from the system it just hides it. Main reason is because if you use an image in a post for support other people will need that image later if the post is going to be helpful for people in the future.

Before if you uploaded an image with a name that already existed it would overwrite the file, now it renames the new file to an unused name.

Thanks Abraham. I'll give it a try later.

Totally agree with you about needing images later after a post is complete.

I was just lazy and didn't feel like renaming "Untitled-1.jpg" from Photoshop everytime I'd have an image to upload. Hopefully now it's fixed so your system will keep each "untitled" to its individual post.
