Kimmo Rinta-PollariQuicktime tutorial videos crash my browsers
by on Jan 28, 2009 at 8:09:47 am

All Cinema 4D videos that are in Quicktime format crash all
browsers in my Windows XP professional:
Mozilla Firefox, IE and Opera.

It depends on the browser but IE gives an error message, Firefox Crashes and Opera gives error message.

And as a result I cannot see a single Cinema 4D tutorial that has been embedded as quicktime.

I have updated my service pack and latest updates for every browser.
Also just updated my iTunes+Quicktime but it did not help.

There´s no errors in AVI format videos for example "face rigging" and the "Rat" walk tutorials.

What is the error message that you receive from the browsers that send back an error message?

Does this video crash the browser?:
http://library.creativecow.net/articles/mylenium/mograph_examples/video.php

Or any of these:
http://library.creativecow.net/video-tutorials/cinema4d

The two that you mentioned just had links to little mov files that were demonstrating the end result. Both of these played for me when I tested them.

Yes it does.

Also all of those quicktime videos that are embedded in those PHP web pages crash. All Cinema 4D tutorial videos made by Mylenium crashed
browser.

There´s was error message in Firefox because it only crashes.

I have also suggestion if you could put tutorials into your
iTunes podcast because iTunes works rock solid?

You tested the those pages with PC?

I could save more money when I buy the tutorials rather than fight with my browser.

Due to the fact that most users can play these tutorials, it must be a problem with your local quicktime install... We will keep our ears open for any other problems people have with these videos and discuss additional alternatives like the iTunes, etc.

Appreciate your feedback,

Abraham

Hi

I wonder if my quicktime install is somehow corrupted but
I doubt because there´s many sites that play embedded quicktime
well without any problems.
So it must be with quicktime codec what your site is using.

[Kimmo Rinta-Pollari] "So it must be with quicktime codec what your site is using."

What we usually find in these cases is that the Windows users that get these kinds of errors are usually using some form of advertising blocker software and that causes the issues.

Are you using software like that? If you are, you need to turn it off when coming here. We are not trying to hack your system and our sponsors are not doing it either, it is just that most of those anti-advertising programs are so aggressive that a site like ours -- which is advertiser sponsored as it has to be to exist -- get targeted by those programs that think they are doing you a favor by blocking certain things.

I haven´t used any pop up killers for years. But I have Avast! and I allowed your site through but it does not help.

Perhaps the autoplay is crashing the browser. It´s best to
embed video into website without automatically playing it.

Too bad that I cannot access tutorials now. :(

We just had a conference call with a bunch of the team on it and we are hard at work isolating and removing the issues.

We will get to the bottom of this quickly and resolve the problem so that you can once again watch your podcasts as in the past.

Best regards,

We just launched a 3D Animation Podcast which is beginning to take our video tutorials from the COW Library and turn them into podcasts. Take a look:
