Importing a MPEG-1 muxed file
on Feb 14, 2006 at 5:41:11 pm

Hello people,

I am trying to get audio out of a MPEG-1 muxed file. When I drag and drop to my project folder from the Finder to FCP (or use the Import command under the File menu) the result is importing one single video track and no audio whatsoever.... When I opend the file in Quicktime, it also does not let me export audio, it says that no audio tracks exist. Yet when I play the mpeg, I can hear stereo sound fine. VLC player sees the audio track, though no export option are available.

There must be a way to get just audio out of this MPEG-1 muxed file into FCP. What exactly does "muxed" mean? I've produced 4 DVDs and though the term "muxed" is familiar, what exactly does it mean? Compressing I guess?

Help me please!
