NTSC and PAL do not really exist in HD video. Most folks refer to them this way because of the frame rate, but it is not correct for a spec to be HD and PAL. If you are unfamiliar with compressor I would start with the stock settings and encode a small portion of the most likely footage where you would see compression artifacts ie fast motion, hard lines ect. and then adjust the parameters until that section looks good.

Compression and compressor are to big in scope to give you a tutorial in a forum post and to be honest every piece of video is unique and may require custom settings to optimize the encode. The stock settings in compressor are a good start. The is also a manual that comes with the software that will describe what each of the settings are.

Start with the MPEG2 program stream and then customize the settings in the inspector tab. Make sure you save your settings.
