Thanks for responding. I cut the clips midway through the dissolve in order to get the best out of the Neat Video de-noise plugin (which worked the best when cutting midway through the dissolve and applying the de-noise filter to each clip separately. The final video looks much better than when I did it any other way. Even better when rendered in the Pro-res timeline.

Yes, for color grading, having the cut midway through the dissolve didn't work very well as I mentioned in my initial post. I also tried having the dissolve on one end and that didn't work well either. The only way I have found that produces decent results is to keyframe the grading through the dissolve as David and Michael have suggested above. I will have to do this for all 26 shots as they all transition through a dissolve. Thanks.
