DVCPRO HD is 8-bit, and anamorphic. ProRes is 10 bit and full raster. Both are 422.

ProRes is the better option, but it all depends on what you will be delivering, and how much rendering ou want to do. You can work fine without rendering, but before you export or to watch at full quality, you'll have to render.
