Mavic set to record D-Log, confused why imported footage is Rec. 709
on Oct 24, 2019 at 12:08:46 am

Hi there, I'm trying to improve the colour in all my video projects and today started testing recording footage in D-Log, then using a LUT in final cut pro. I set up the Mavic Pro 1 to record in D-Log... recorded some test footage, imported it into final cut... and when I applied the free 'dlog to rec709' LUT it looked terrible. Upon inspecting the original footage in final cut (not a transcoded or proxy version) I noticed it says the clip is Rec. 709. I assume that's why applying the dlog to rec709 LUT looked bad.... but can't for the life of me figure out why the footage is showing as rec709 before I do anything to it. I double checked the Mavic Go ios app is set to record dlog, and ensured the footage in final cut was original (new library, import one clip, don't do any processing).

I'm not sure if it's my understanding of how this is supposed to work, or perhaps a setting I missed on the Mavic... or it could an issue with my final cut import settings/process. Thought I'd ask here for any troubleshooting tips. Cheers.
