Storage settings, RAID, and getting the job done quickly and reliably

I have seen a lot of questions on disk storage types and RAID in general both here in the Storage forum and on some of the other forums over the past few weeks and thought that I'd re-energize a blog post that I made a while back. It outlines the different storage options and disk configurations and makes recommendations based on what you are trying to achieve.

A non-vendor specific discussion of Disk storage implementation -

Disk I/O Speeds, RAID Levels, and Spindle Count

I hope it answer some of your questions.
