Having a person do transcripts for a documentary is already fairly expensive (unless you find someone on Craigslist that's willing to work for a pizza). In my experience SpeedScriber is 25-50% below the going rate for a human transcriptionist and the turnaround time is significantly faster. It's a great deal, IMO, and I think the pay-for-use is a good business model for it.

Martin is the only one that can say for sure, but I think selling it as a standalone app might require a price point that would be prohibitively expensive for users that have modest or infrequent transcription. Another consideration is the licensing requirements/restrictions for the speech-to-text tech that's being used on the back end.
