FWIW, I wrote to nvidia support back on 2/3 about this issue.

They said my issue was being "escalated to a Level 2 tech".

TODAY (2 weeks later) the Level 2 responded:

Both CUDA and OpenCL can be used to leverage the power of your GPU for various tasks. Their implementation depends on how each individual program is optimized, and problems with one are generally specific to that program. You can try reinstalling CUDA, but you might also want to check directly with the support or community for the program you're using to see if others have encountered similar issues, especially if other programs work correctly when accelerated.

Gareth

Pretty much useless.

It's incredibly annoying to be stuck somewhere in an Adobe/Apple/Nvidia limbo, wherein no one seems to be doing much to fix this issue. Many of us bought high end Macs specifically for use with Premiere and fast rendering/real-time effects.

I wish someone knew someone at a high-profile blog/magazine and could get a write up about this.
