I made a big effort post but apparently it disappeared so quick recap:

You can either:

-Put the LUT in a monitor if a monitor supports hardware LUTs eg. Flanders Scientific monitors, some Eizos/NECs/BenQs
-Put the LUT somewhere in the signal chain eg. a LUT box or a monitoring LUT option in a software
-Manually calibrate the monitor using, for example, the free Lightspace version to read patches and set the monitor settings one by one by hand. This requires a lot of time, skill and knowledge. You'd probably get more accurate results with a LUT especially if you're using a cheaper monitor.

[Dan Powers] "I have yet to find a color tool (software and probe) that will send an image signal to the SDI video card"

You can use a bunch of different patch generators with Lightspace and Calman and the cheapest one would be using Resolve as one.
