To be honest I've never paid attention to color profiles or bit depth because I never had any problem before. I would just grab "backgrounds" for my green screen videos and never had a problem.

I did, however, come up with a solution of sorts which might help you guys understand what was wrong. I created a new timeline from scratch and set it to 1920x1080 instead of my usual starting point of 4K UHD, then imported the images. They looked as they should, and when I changed the timeline resolution to 3840x 2160 they still looked the way they should.

With that information I'm sure you guys can figure out what I was doing wrong, for future reference. Thanks.
