If you are going to link the objects, then you have to link the objects to the corresponding part of the biped. For example, you can link the helmet to the head of the biped.

If you want to attach the object to the actual mesh, then you would need to use the skin wrap modifier. The only problem with this is that the mesh will deform and this would not work for a rigid object like a helmet.
