Ah, here is the kind of healthy cynicism I can really agree with! I also rarely if ever have supervised sessions. No one really cares what system I'm working on. Now more the ever clients hire "me" and not "the box". If you do that kind of hourly work and the brand name is a sell then perhaps Smoke on Mac is for you. Practically everything I do now has so many layers and effects in it that saying anything happens in "real time" is a joke. Real time color correct for instance doesn't get me too hot. A bunch of render machines is what makes my jobs go faster. How much does that cost for Smoke? As for ever trusting Discreet / Autodesk again well good luck to anyone who does. My broken heart over Combustion has tainted that relationship.
