Hi Rob,

There's no policy about test posts. Rather, the policy is that all new accounts, regardless of forum, are moderated until we can establish that accounts belong to real people. Generally an easy thing to establish. ☺

We don't have a general video capture forum because we've been around since 1995, and you're the first one to ask for it! Because we're a community for video professionals, most people have already made some choice or another. The questions for one topic are generally tied to the next, so people tend to post questions in their own "root" forums.

For example, the choice of video hardware is directly connected to choice of video software. The best video capture hardware for Premiere Pro may not work as well with Final Cut Pro X. Some capture choices are platform specific, and others are expressly designed to be platform independent.

So in general, video capture hardware questions belong in the forums related to the software you intend to use: Premiere Pro, FCPX, Media Composer, Resolve, Vegas, or Media 100. (Listed in alphabetical order by manufacturer, of course!)

I hope that helps! If not let us know, and we'll try to help with more specifics.

Regards,

Tim Wilson
