Quicktime files created recently are now corrupted

Hi All

Not really an FCP issue, but I'm looking for the brightest minds out there. I exported a bunch of QT files from After Effects and edited them together in Premiere a few months ago.

Now when I go to open them again I get: "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file"

All the files are stored on a Promise Raid connected via Thunderbolt to my iMac. No major software upgrades done recently.

I've seen similar things happen when I copy files from one drive to another but these file have never been moved.

Any thoughts?

You probably exported QT reference files out of FCP, in which case you are SOL.

Thanks David

But no, they're all standalone QT files. I've been burned over the years many times with QT REF files and I avoid them like the plague ☺

Hi Shane

Good old Prores, generated out of After Effects.

Cheers
