play TP files on mac

Does anyone knows how to play these files on a mac?

from searches i did, i understand this is a file that was recorded from a tv (?)

i've tried converting them to a lot of other formats but it didnt work. the furthest i got was a converted video that it had all black and a couple of weird frames with some colour..

i even tried on a windows computer with random players i could find from google searches but nothing..

they play awesome on a samsung tv though (one of those really brand new ones) through a usb stick.

so any help is really appreciated to find a way to break this.

thanks a lot

It sounds like an MPEG2 TransPort stream - TP instead of the more common TS. First, I'd try VLC player and see what happens.
