Cores vs Base Clock Speed for Avid Media Composer
Cores vs Base Clock Speed for Avid Media Composer

Hey looking at doing a build options are

2x 3.2 GHZ (3.6GHZ TURBO) 8-CORE bringing the grand total of cores to 16 Cores/32 threads

Or

2x 2.6 GHZ (3.5GHZ TURBO) 12-CORE bringing the grand total of cores to 24 cores/48 threads

The only other difference in the processors is that the 8-cores have a 20mb cache vs the 12-cores have a 30mb cache. Both systems would have the same amount of ram (128gb) and same SSD hd.

My main question is for Avid Media Composer 8.9 would one system out perform the other better?

This is as close an explanation I've seen on Media Composer architecture and how it uses the different resources for performance:

I'd go with the high clock speed.
