Software for capture via IOHD

going onsite next week and the clients want to capture two incoming camera feeds. I have access to 2 IOHDs and 2 MacBook Pros but the MBPs don't have final cut installed. My question is what is the alternative or should I just purchase and install FCP studio 3 knowing that the units are rentals?

MBP 2.4 4GB Ram/FCS2
Power Mac Dual 1.8 G5/5.5GB Ram/Radeon 9600/FCS2
Aja io hd for MBP/ Aja io LA&LD for G5

You can use VTR Exchange. It is free and made by AJA, but make some tests if you are using Snow Leopard because it is not as stable as it was in Leopard.

AJA has a free VTR program on their site. It works better then FCP for live feeds IMO. Please it can read TC via the LTC.

The program is pretty straight forward but the settings are not always set the way you think so take a good look at it before you get on set. (first rule with every new piece of gear or software)

You will still need the ProRes codec to use VTR Exchange.
