I recently dug out my old MacBook Pro 2009 17". I updated it to El Capitain.

It still have FCP 7 on it, and I'm wondering about installing FCPX. But I wonder if I can install an earlier version, because I think 10.4.4 (which I have on my mac desktop may be buggy with El Capitain.

Is that possible? Where would I get an older version of FCPX?

Thanks so much.

Pretty disappointing that not one person would reply to my question. Yes after speaking with Apple, I realize how easy this was.

It sure would have been helpful if someone would have responded.

Oh well...

Perhaps nobody knew the answer to your question, which is why nobody posted.

You spoke to Apple and got an answer - what did they tell you? How do you download an earlier version?

Very Simple. Since I only have El Capitan on my 2009 macbook pro, I just had to go the App store and look for my purchases. Then I downloaded FCPX 10.3, which is what the app store said is the latest that my laptop would work with.

Hope that helps someone else.
