Compact Video Cassette question/problem.....
by Joshua Pryor on Jul 19, 2012 at 7:14:36 pm
Im not sure if this is the forum that this belongs in....
Im using an Emerson VHS/DVD recorder. Basically a dubber. Ive had to problem dubbing some old VHS tapes from the 80s onto DVD. It was actually much easier than Id thought it would be. But now Ive moved onto to 1991 and Compact Video Cassette tapes that need an adapter to play in the VHS slot. As soon as I put the first tape in the player, the picture is so terrible. Not just quality, but black smudge lines and lots of glitches and skipping. Like I said none of this was happening with the VHS tapes, just these compact cassettes. If need be I can take some pictures of what its doing, but anyone have any ideas on fixes??

Maybe the adapter is dirty? I can't remember if those thread the tape out to the deck's heads or if they have interim heads that transmit to the deck heads.
