Anyone Interested: Titles from CSV
Anyone Interested: Titles from CSV
by Alex Udell on Mar 28, 2017 at 3:19:31 pm

Hi All....

I was doing some digging...

given a base title design and a CSV (from an XLS or Google sheet etc.) containing a list of like information...

I think I could make a tool that would automatically generate a set of like titles based on the initial design....

Would this be useful to anyone?

lemme know...

Thanks....

Hi Alex,

Very interested in this project. I just contacted you on LinkedIn.
Let me know if we can work on this together.

Best

Hi Alex,

Did you end up doing any development on this tool? I've been looking for something like this for a while.

Thanks!

JR

AfterEffects can now work with CSV, TSV and JSON files to automate data into comps. It looks a little clunky, but there are ways to make it work. One in particular is from Ukramedia - they offer Modular Lower Third Kits which are AE projects rigged really well for customizing. Once you get your look set, you can run the script that comes with the product and it will use data from a CSV or TXT file to automatically create animated lower third comps you can dynamically link or export. (their Kits work with or without the script and they're great for creating MOGRTs you can use in Premiere)

And actually, the script works with other comps, not just their kits. Not sure if you can get it without buying a kit, though. They're not expensive and work great.
