Capturing MiniDV into Premiere Pro CC
Capturing MiniDV into Premiere Pro CC

Hi all,
same problem as many it seems. Trying to capture MiniDV tape from Sony camera to Premiere Pro CC on a Mac.
Tried different suggested things: Set the camera to HDVout, iLink is off, restarted the computer with camera on, but still Premiere doesn't seem to see the camera. Message says "Capture device offline". Any idea?
Thanks
Manuela

Are you using Firewire to connect the camera to the Mac?

System:
Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
Win 7 64-bit
32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2015.02 (as of 6/2016)
256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.

Does your machine itself see the camera? Since you're on a Mac, can you capture to something like iMovie?

Can't help you troubleshoot, but just confirming that I've captured MiniDV files from a little Panasonic camera to CC 2014.

In one of the recent Pr versions on a Mac the capture feature is broken.
Check the Adobe forums.

It's possible the FireWire port on your camera is bad - a pretty common problem for DV cameras and decks.

You should open QuickTime 7 Pro and check the Recording tab. If you see DV-VCR as one of the Video Source options, your computer is indeed seeing the camera. Likewise, you can open up iMovie 11, click File > Import from Camera and if your camera is connected and working it'll work there.
