ProType Titler deprecated... I wonder why?

Hi everyone,

Any idea why the ProType Titler is deprecated? Is it not more powerful than the regular Titles tool?

Yes, it is more powerful, but sadly it has been discontinued.... It is full of potential i tell you, and if some really really serious further development where poured into it, it could have become one of the best Titlers ever to be integrated in an NLE.

The Editing world is lacking a seriously creative and versatile Titler that's easy to use!

How sad, Steve.

I jumped from VP12 to VP17 and was shocked to witness this backward leap. The remaining "supported" Titler doesn't seem to have evolved much. I could see deprecating one if the remaining Titler was more or less equivalent, but evidently it's not.

Hmmm... makes me question the future of Vegas. I must say, for a 5 version jump I was stunned as to how little change there was. Leaves me very much questioning the growth/future and development of this product.

No, dont question the future of Vegas Gilles, they are on a good path and i like what i am seeing, (except for discontinuing Protype titler, lol).
They are heading in the correct direction and i am utterly pleased at the tremendous improvements that they have made with Vegas Pro 17..... 8K support, New unified 3 way color grading feature, Integrated Nested timelines, Smart split, improved menu system, Mesh warp, picture in picture are just a few of the new features that i am pleased they have implemented, and where the main reasons i was finally happy to move on from Vegas Pro 13.

And trust me, its gonna be even far more improved and fully featured with the coming of version 18.....

Thanks Steve,
Good to hear your vote of confidence. Perhaps it's because I haven't delved into those new features yet.
You've revived my interest :)

Hi. Since nobody cares to respond, ProType Titler still exists in VEGAS Pro 17. It's a deprecated feature and you can bring it back if you go into preference, deprecated features, and enable ProType Titler.

Hi Shinra,
Thanks for piping in.

Peeps did respond. We know it's deprecated. It's in the post's title ☺

The issue is that depracated="on its way out"... meaning many of us don't want to rely on it for our projects because it will "soon" disappear and no longer be supported. Many believe it's unwise to use deprecated features for new projects.

Oh, I see. Sorry for a misunderstanding caused as English is not my native tongue.

Not a huge fan of Pro Type Titler. I only use it if I want to do a typing effect or want different color letters. Always found it janky and unintuitive. Haven't gotten 17 but they were smart to combine the text tools as there are way too many. But they should have at least combine the functionality and maybe added some. I try to avoid doing text in vegas if I can, usually I just break out legacy text as its the quickest way to get a decent looking outline and shadow effect to make text pop. Usually I just use hitfilm for text, either by important clips for render or just making a transparent png to insert into the vegas timeline. I think it does text very well and it's gotten better recently, and it's a lot easier to use than titler pro.
