Vegas Pro 16 Project PATH

I noticed Vegas is using an absoulte path in the project file. I moved the folder containing a recent to my backup drive. When I try to open the project again vegas has no idea where the files are. I re-specified all the files... Saved the project. Opened it again, and vegas again forgot the location of the files. I don't recall having issues after copying off a vegas project folder before unless I changed file names or folders within the project.

Is there some setting I am missing for relative versus absolute paths? I'm confused with what's going on here. It's been a nightmare as I'm spending all my time re-linking files instead of doing real work.

Hi Matthew,

Version 16 build 261, Windows 7. I cannot duplicate your issue, Vegas finds all the files after I specify the location and save the project.

I'm wondering if it's because I used a network path when I reopened the veg project.

I built a NAS, and hadn't mapped all the drives. Then I copied the project when I was done with it to the NAS on an un-mapped drive. I then realised I should test some edits on that project. It couldn't find any of the files despite the directory structure was the same just different drive.

I'm going to map the drive and try it again.

PS. Is it just me, or does Vegas leave you like 90% satisfied with every upgrade? They boasted higher resolution editing environment but my timeline thumbnails look like witness protection pixilation. I cannot even tell what is there.

I pretty much stop fiddling with VP16 until maybe another couple of updates are released, just to many weird things going on that is taking too much of my time to run down. I'm using DaVinvi Resolve 15.01, no crashes, no drama. Later this year I may go back to testing VP16. And yes, if I enlarge the track even just a small amount, on my monitor the timeline/track thumbnails are difficult to distinguish. Maybe others with a different GPU and monitor setup see it better.

I hope mapping your NAS drives work out for you.
