Facetracker - 3d rotation
Facetracker - 3d rotation

I'm trying to track a face using the inbuilt face tracker. I can't seem to find a method to track rotation (depth - not x/y). I want to take the tracked points into Cinema 4D and use them to create animations to then reapply to the face footage. For example, when a head turns to the left or right i want to be able to track the points in a 3D space.

I don't want to use physical tracking markers (hence the AE face tracker). I've tried the 3D camera tracking and to see if i can trick it but it keeps failing and i'm guessing this is because there's not actual camera movement??

Any tips for this would be a massive help!

Thanks in advance,

After Effects doesn't do this. You'll need to use a native 3D app. You can sort of fake it with the Mocha planar tracker (or with the full version of Mocha), but After Effects is not designed to track 3D objects--the only 3D tracking available is the 3D Camera Tracker, and that is the wrong tool for the job.
