make particles follow a trajectory
make particles follow a trajectory

Hello everyone !

I need your help for a problem that is blocking me.
I'd like to do this : simulate a stream of particles, from point A to point B, following a precise trajectory.
To make it as clear as possible I have concocted a beautiful scheme: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ruyd7alom90rn0h/4929_001_2.jpg?dl=0

The expected rendering is similar to this, but with more complex trajectories: https://vimeo.com/286751571

I tried to do something with the "particle lab" effect, but I can not achieve the desired effect.

If you have a solution, and the patience to explain it to me in basic English (I'm French), I would be infinitely grateful.

Thank you !

Hi. Trapcode Particular allows particles to follow paths:

Yes, but trapcode particular costs 400$... and I don't have this money.
Is there another solution.. ?

Thanks

The is also another paid plugin called Stardust (that may be a bit cheaper than Particular)

You could try the free DuStroke. It's not for that specifically but from the preview it seems one can do that.

If those two options don't work, you'd better get to animating that by hand because I'm out of ideas. It will take you a couple of hours, but its doable.

DuStroke seems great !

Thanks, I think I can do it now :)

Here is a tutorial, which might help:

At least you wouldn't need animating this plainly by hand. And by a chance of some controls tweaking and multiple bursts of effect from the same point, it might get you there.
