How to make text take the shape of a container?
by Hilary Tsai on Jan 12, 2019 at 6:00:54 am

I want to make my text into the shape of a rectangle (just two words--one on top of the other), which fill up a mask but do not spill outside the bounds of that mask. It's hard to describe what I mean; I need the text to look distorted, like it's trying to bulge out of its container but maintains a rounded rectangle shape. Is there a way to achieve something like this in Ae? I've played a bit with spline paths and making text follow the splines; this is sort of a different, but related concept, I just don't know how to do it. All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

The Warp effect sounds like a candidate for this.

Thanks Kalleheikki! I tried using the warp tool like you suggested, and it definitely gave me some cool results.

Come on. I have seen the tutorial on this page several times...you convert the text to masks and animate that. be sure to set first vertex though...literally right click on a point of the mask and set as your first vertex

Thanks Richard! I wasn't aware of those tutorials; I think I was not using the proper search terms what I seek. This solution is exactly what I needed.
